Our road trip officially starts. We pick up our motorhome and Chris goes about the business of getting it ready for travel whilst I unpack. It’s kind of bulging at the seams. This is our fourth trip and we’ve accumulated, it seems, a lot of stuff.

Despite the number of times we have been to London, we have never managed to make it to Notting Hill’s famous Portobello Road market. That’s finally set to change today.
Post lunch we head out to Kensington Gardens, adjacent to the Palace. It’s a glorious day, no sign of the humidity that’s hung around the last few days.
Major excitement today… It’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child day, finally. It’s been a long time coming. It’s been many months since I registered, waited patiently for the chance to be in the ticket ballot, less patiently for ticket release, then blind panic following the announcement that despite taking months to get that far, the opportunity to buy tickets would be awarded in random order from a set “live” time.
With a need to shake the cobwebs we start the day with a long walk through the gardens. I can’t resist revisiting my birdie friends. They’ve drawn quite a crowd, but the birds are not having any of it – wrong treats are on offer, clearly, they are not fans of bread. There’s a lot more birds today. They peer down waiting for a better offer and I’m happy happy to oblige. Almonds flush them out and I’m lucky to have six or so swoop down the to claim their treat.
I’m having my Snow White moment and loving it.

Well. Yesterday a local told us that England has had no rain for 3 months (they must have been panicking as their reservoirs are barely existent), but today, it pours. We are it seems, the […]
Oh so far to go to get to Dover….back on the motorways we go. Those maps where the UK looks like a mere paw print on the globe…they’re very deceptive. At least today we get […]
Blah. Horrible day. Crack of dawn start to make the ferry. Calm seas, luckily for Chris who gets seasick, but this trip is very different to the one over. Seasoned ferry goers know to head […]
