2025 – what happened?

So.  It’s been a while.

The razor sharp amongst you may have spotted that 2024’s blog ended abruptly without the usual end of journey musings. Meanwhile 2025’s was non existent.

We travelled of course.  Scotland ostensibly.  But with 2024’s unresolved mechanical difficulties following us into 2025, we lost almost half our time to delays.  Four workshops and thousands of $$$ later, the culprit was found to be faulty transmission sensors.

Not the main computer, replaced unnecessarily, to great loss of time and money.   And with no thanks to the first three workshops who did bugger all other than misdiagnose with great authority and set us off on a series of false starts… resulting in subsequent screaming halts.

A relaxing journey it was not.

By the time we were finally free, I just couldn’t bring myself to write about it. A litany of frustrations and complaints does not happy reading make.

Still, I  feel a little sad not to have documented the lovely things we did manage to see: Balmoral, caught on the last day of opening before the arrival of the King:

The Isle of Skye:

the extraordinary Selkies:

the endless hiking,  the fairy pools:

The produce!

But despite Scotland’s spectacular beauty, by journey’s end nerves were truly frazzled.  For possibly the first time ever, we were ready to draw a line under a trip and go home.

And so we did, leaving only the matter of a niggly ignition unresolved. Oh and a decision on the motorhome’s future.   Plenty of time for that in 2026, we reasoned.

And with the stage so set, come my friends, let’s journey into 2026 and see what’s in store…..
