2024 Day 38 In celebration of Himself

It’s a big day today – Himself’s birthday!   And he’s jagged a perfect 28 degree day for it too.  It’s a tough gig, but someone has to do it.

The morning passes in a flurry of calls and well wishes from family and friends, then it’s a short walk into the village for his favourite pastime – lunch!   He has his heart set on cassoulet but it’s not the season for it, which leads us in a Goldilocks search for the perfect alternative.  Our first option isn’t open, the second has a great outlook but poor reviews, but the third’s the charm with great reviews and a pretty terrace view.

We opt for a casual approach with sharing platters of charcuterie, cheese and a tomato burrata salad, followed by tart tartin for Himself and a biscoff tiramisu for Moi.  Yum!

Luckily it’s relatively light as post lunch we set off to explore La Roque-Gageac.  Stairs… there are a lot of stairs!

There’s just enough energy left to walk home and relax riverside.

Later in the afternoon, there’s a massive whoosh as a series of air balloons rise over the cliffs and float across the river.  It’s an impressive sight.

Later yet the creatures emerge, our ducks parade four ducklings and the frogs are at it again.  It’s been a great day.
